Winona Ryder: I fell in love with Al Pacino in my early twenties.
According to CinemaDrame news agency, Al Pacino, at 54 years old, respectfully avoided starting a relationship with a female actor 32 years his junior. In an interview with the UK magazine Elle, Winona Ryder recalled that when she was 22, she faced Al Pacino’s reluctant approach to beginning a romantic relationship.
In 1996, Ryder was a rising star and was appearing in the meta-documentary Looking for Richard. She says Pacino took her to many cafes in New York at that time, and one day, as they were about to part ways, he admitted having feelings for the actor known from The Godfather.
The Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands actress remembers telling Pacino, “I love you, you know, I’m really completely in love with you.” Pacino responded, “Oh darling, no,” while gently stroking her hand. But a decade later, Ryder met Pacino’s girlfriend Lucila Sola, who is four years younger than her.
In recent years, Pacino has been involved with Noor Alfallah, a 31-year-old Kuwaiti woman. Ryder, 53, who will soon appear in the fifth season of Stranger Things on Netflix, has been in a relationship with fashion designer Scott Mackinlay Hahn since 2011 but remains in touch with Pacino: “I still play poker with him sometimes. It doesn’t get any better than this.” Ryder and Pacino also collaborated on the film S1m0ne, released in 2002.
